Scuba Diving Certifications in Waikiki

Waikiki Dive Center is a PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Center (IDC). We offer certification courses that span the full range of diving skill levels, including programs for PADI Open Water Diver and PADI Instructor. All courses are intentionally kept at affordable prices and are conducted in semi-private or fully private class sessions. We take pride in teaching, coaching, and learning while helping diving enthusiasts achieve their certification goals.

What to expect

Certification classes for all PADI levels are offered daily to provide the utmost flexibility for busy travelers. If you’re a first-time diver and don’t want to commit to a certification program yet, we offer our Discovery Program. For this and our other scuba diving offerings, we provide everything you need for a real VIP diving experience. If you are already certified, feel free to grab a spot on our USCG-certified dive vessels for daily wreck and reef dive tours at one of our 16 dive locations on Oahu!

28 Available PADI Certification and Specialty Courses

Waikiki Dive Center is the most trusted PADI 5-Star Scuba Diving Academy on Oahu since 1979.
The PADI Open Water Referral course is for divers who have completed their confined water portion of the PADI Open Water Diver course and are wanting to finish the rest of the open-water classes.
We accept referral forms from other scuba dive shops and can help you finish certifications you have already started.
Depending on how much of the class you have left to complete, the referral courses might require one-to-two-day boat dive sessions. These sessions would start at 9:45 am and end around 5:30 pm.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is, by far, the world’s most popular scuba certification course. Millions of people have gotten involved in diving because of their certification in PADI Open Water classes. Learning to scuba dive requires both textbook knowledge (i.e. facts, principles, and concepts) and physical skill (i.e. techniques and methods). Because of this structure, part of the PADI Open Water Dive Course (the knowledge acquisition part) can be completed online.
For the skills development portion of the course, you will be required to attend three sessions at Waikiki Dive Center: a confined beach morning session (approximately from 6:45 am to 1:30 pm) and two mid-day sessions (approximately from 9:45 am to 1:45 pm).
Waikiki Dive Center includes all gear for students. Just let us know before your first session what your shoe and T-shirt sizes are. We will have your gear ready to try on when you arrive.
Pre-Registration Requirements:
- You must complete the first four chapters of knowledge development in the online learning program before attending your first in-person class. You may not be accepted into the class if you have failed to finish this portion of the online curriculum.
- The confined water class starts at $250.00. You may reschedule your designated date and time, but notice must be provided at least 48 hours prior to your check-in.
Please arrive at all classes on time. Classes will begin no later than 15 minutes past the designated start time, whether you are present or not. If you are significantly late or miss class, you will incur the full cost of the course.
All e-learning curriculum must be completed before attending your final open water three and four class. The final online exam does NOT need to be completed by this point, however.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver includes an online knowledge development segment on two required topics: Deep and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dives.
You must also complete five of the most popular elective dives, which include Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck Diver, Boat Diver, and Underwater Naturalist.
This course requires three in-person sessions at Waikiki Dive Center. You will have at least one morning session (6:45 am to around noon) and two other sessions (either another morning or afternoon, which lasts from 9:45 am to 1:45 pm).

The PADI Rescue Diver course consists of an introduction followed by five easy-to-learn sections. The course includes The Psychology of Rescue, Recognizing Diver Stress, Accident Management, Assisting Responsive and Unresponsive Divers at the Surface and Underwater, Equipment Problems, Oxygen Delivery Systems, Missing Diver Procedures, Responding to Diver Emergencies, and In-Water Rescue Breathing.
This course requires two morning sessions with us beginning at 6:45 a.m. and ending around noon.

The PADI Divemaster course is the first professional level of the PADI system. This certification allows you to work as a training assistant on PADI courses and programs, supervise certified divers on pleasure-diving excursions, and conduct some PADI training independently.
This course includes an online knowledge curriculum, practical skills application, and final exam.

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the cornerstone of PADI’s professional-level training. Becoming a PADI Instructor consists of three parts: knowledge development, practical skills application, and the Instructor Examination.
The online portion of the course covers nine topics that prepare you for the practical sessions needed to complete your Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor course.
