Our program is meticulously crafted to empower you with the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact on marine ecosystems worldwide. From mastering buoyancy and navigation to conducting vital ecological surveys, this program is your gateway to becoming a guardian of the ocean.

Learning Objectives:

  • Buoyancy and Navigation Dive Training: Achieve mastery over buoyancy control and learn precise navigation techniques for effective underwater exploration.
  • Ecological Classroom Sessions:
    • Day 1: Coral Reef Ecology and Monitoring: Dive into the essentials of coral reef ecosystems and learn monitoring techniques that underpin conservation efforts.
    • Day 2: Hawai’i Fish Identification: Get to know the common fish species of Hawai’i and their significance in the ecological balance.
    • Day 3: Substrate Composition: Explore the ocean floor, understanding the types and importance of substrate composition in marine ecology.
    • Day 4: Invertebrate Abundance and Population Management: Identify key marine invertebrates and learn strategies for managing their populations.
  • Ecological Survey Training:
    • Conduct underwater surveys focusing on fish, invertebrates, and substrate composition, applying practical skills to support conservation research.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

  • Morning Classroom Sessions: Kickstart your day with an overview of daily ecological topics, diving deep into the theory and techniques essential for ecological monitoring.
  • Afternoon Dives: Apply what you’ve learned in real-world diving scenarios, with dive training tailored to the day’s focus. This hands-on approach enhances your understanding and skills in ecological monitoring.
  • Post-Dive Data Collection: Learn the ropes of data collation, recording, and documentation, essential steps in the conservation process.

CERTIFICATION

  • Upon completion of the program, participants will undergo practical and written assessments to demonstrate their understanding and skills. Successful candidates will be awarded:
    • PADI Advanced Open Water Certification
    • Conservation Diver Ecological Monitoring Certification

    This certification not only recognizes your commitment and skill in marine conservation but also integrates you into a global network of certified ecological divers dedicated to making a difference in marine ecosystems worldwide.
