6-WEEK MARINE RESEARCH INTERNSHIP

Overview

The Marine Conservation Research Internship is an intensive 6-week program that melds theoretical knowledge in marine biology with practical fieldwork and independent research, focusing on coral reef conservation. Organized by Ocean Alliance Project, this marine biology internship aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of marine ecosystems, ecological monitoring techniques, and the impacts of human activities on reef health.

Course Objectives

  • Deep Dive into Coral Reef Ecology: Gain insights into the dynamics of coral reef ecosystems and the significance of coral reefs in marine biology.
  • Acquire Monitoring Skills in Marine Biology: Master ecological monitoring techniques such as photogrammetry and benthic surveys relevant to marine biology.
  • Conduct Independent Marine Biology Research: Develop and execute research projects, from question formulation to data collection, within the realm of marine biology.
  • Data Analysis Proficiency in Marine Biology: Analyze research data, interpret findings, and draw conclusions with a focus on marine biology.

This program offers rigorous training in advanced diving techniques and underwater navigation, complemented by a comprehensive exploration of marine biology, ecology, and conservation.

Scientific & PADI Divemaster Course Objectives

  • Master Coral Reef Ecology and Diving Skills: Acquire a profound understanding of coral reef ecosystems and advanced diving skills from a marine biology perspective.
  • Leadership in Diving with a Marine Biology Focus: Learn to lead and supervise dive activities with an emphasis on safety, environmental stewardship, and the principles of marine biology.
  • Independent Research Capability in Marine Biology: Engage in independent research to contribute to marine conservation with a solid foundation in marine biology.
  • Professionalism in Diving and Marine Biology: Adopt professionalism in all aspects of diving and marine research, with a keen focus on marine biology.
